What to know

One shared vehicle, or two individual rides?

A Slingshot seats two and stays on paved roads. A two-seat side-by-side gives you a shared off-road experience. E-bikes offer individual riding at a pace you plan together. In winter, ask about a two-person snowmobile option and passenger fit.

Start with the total time you have, including getting to the meeting point, orientation, stops, and the return. A scenic destination is an outing idea, not a promise that the round trip fits any rental window.

Availability and operating arrangements depend on the activity, season, and reservation.

The scenic-road date: Old Mission Peninsula

Choose a Slingshot for paved-road views toward Old Mission Peninsula and Mission Point Lighthouse. Plan stops before departure and check the rental return time. If you add food or sightseeing, build that into the available window rather than rushing the drive back.

  • Confirm driver eligibility and weather suitability
  • Use the route guide to compare approximate drive times
  • Keep driving responsibilities separate from any alcohol plans

The shared adventure: a two-seat UTV

A guided trail ride gives you a route leader; a self-guided rental offers more control over pace within the approved route. Both require an eligible driver and the pre-ride briefing. If both of you want to drive, each person must meet the requirements and complete the appropriate waiver.

  • Choose two seats including the driver
  • Confirm any additional-driver rules
  • Wear layers and closed-toe shoes

The slower outing: e-bikes and a local stop

Choose the resort area for a Traverse City-side outing or the Riding Electric partner start for the Leelanau Trail. Let the least-confident rider set the route length. A shorter ride with a comfortable return can be more enjoyable than trying to reach every stop.

  • Check current trail conditions
  • Plan time to park securely and stop
  • Confirm the operator’s return instructions

The winter escape: snow and a warm meal afterward

Make a snowmobile outing the centerpiece and keep the rest of the day flexible. Confirm two-person seating, what clothing is included, what you need to bring, and the current meeting location. Schedule other reservations with room for weather and check-in.

  • Choose guided or self-guided based on experience
  • Ask about passenger comfort and fit
  • Watch for operating updates before travel

Which rental seats two people?

A Slingshot or two-seat UTV includes one driver and one passenger. Two-person snowmobile options depend on inventory and passenger rules. ATVs are single-seat.

Can we drive to Sleeping Bear Dunes?

A Slingshot can be used for permitted paved-road sightseeing, subject to your rental terms and current access. It is not for off-road dune riding. Check the full round-trip plan.
